BYFC is proud to support the African Affinity Student Union (AASU).

The African Affinity Student Union (AASU) at Piedmont High and Millennium High is a student-led community dedicated to celebrating Black identity, culture, and achievement. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive affinity space where Black students and those who support them can build connections, explore meaningful topics related to equity and justice, and lead activities that enrich the entire school community. AASU hosts discussions, social events, community service projects, and partnerships with other clubs and other schools in PUSD to promote understanding, empowerment, and positive change. We strive to uplift every member’s voice and ensure that Black students feel seen, heard, and valued in the Piedmont Unified School District.

Piedmont Black Youth Family Collective (BYFC) recognizes the unique makeup of our Piedmont families culturally, ethnically and racially. The mission of BYFC is to build community and connection among our diverse Piedmont families and celebrate the many influences and experiences of the African Diaspora. BYFC aims to

• Raise, and advocate for, awareness of the Black community within Piedmont
• Identify and address issues and concerns important to families with children who have or identify with Black heritage
• Contribute to, and foster, a culture of diversity and inclusion within the Piedmont community.
