Piedmont Unplugged is a community-based, parent-led organization inspired in part by Jonathan Haidt's The Anxious Generation. We advocate for reducing children's smartphone and social media use in favor of more screen-free, hands-on childhood experiences. Our work centers on four research-backed goals: no smartphones until high school, no social media until age 16, fully phone-free schools, and more real-world independence for kids. To help us meet these goals, we organize community events, recruit parent ambassadors at PUSD schools, and provide educational resources to families looking to join the movement.
Your donations help to fund our programming and grow our movement. Past events have included:
- Conversations with Landline, a Stanford student-led group advocating for offscreen connection
- Book launch party for The Amazing Generation, by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price
- Community Bike Bus to Havens
- Movie screening of Screenagers: Elementary School Edition
- Speaker Lenore Skenazy of Let Grow and The Anxious Generation
