Code of Conduct
Mission: During three evening dance sessions, students should step outside of their comfort zone both physically and socially to learn not only basic and classic dance steps, but also to better know the people in their class. Students should have fun, but fun often comes with or after a challenge! Students will learn dance fundamentals while learning and reviewing etiquette and fostering thoughtfulness for others in a classy social atmosphere where we present our best selves!
Dance Class Code of Conduct:
- Students arrive 10 minutes before the session begins (6:35), check in, receive a name badge to wear, and after taking any consented photos, turn in their phones.
- Students are to remain in the ballroom during the session. If a student needs to step away one time during class, FIRST LET AN INSTRUCTOR KNOW. No wondering before, during, or after the session.
- PARENTS - please pick up your student within 10 minutes after the session for safety purposes.
- Students - No gum, smacking in a partner’s face is undesirable and does not fit the social etiquette of our mission.
- Students will listen with their eyes on the instructor, facing the instructor, and not talk simultaneously. Students follow directions to the best of their ability.
- Students treat each partner respectfully (eye contact, kindness, effort).
- Students will not verbalize unkind remarks or use profanity or any inappropriate language.
- Disruptive, disrespectful, or inattentive behavior is not accepted. Any inappropriate behavior, as determined here or by another instructor or chaperone, will result in the student missing dance, a session, or dismissal from the program. This contract is a warning, and all parties involved have a right to access the experience in a safe and comfortable environment.
- Dress Code: The attire should be tasteful and match the social and age appropriateness of the class mission: slacks, collared shirts (ties and jackets are ok, but not necessary), pantsuits, dresses, and skirts (no higher than 3 inches from the knee), skorts, closed-toe shoes (no more than an inch heel). Except for theme/costume night(s), there should be no shorts, strapless dresses, T-shirts, jeans, sweats, Crocs, Birkenstocks, or flip-flops.
- Consequences:
Reminder and discussion with student during a break from dance
Parent, instructor, and student meet after the dance session (perhaps parent chaperones, break from one class - we meet to find a solution).
Removal from the session or all sessions without funds returned.
By signing up for this class, I acknowledge that I understand the Class Code of Conduct and understand the consequences of not following this code.
